Striving to become holy and sanctified are good desires (even as Eve meant her desire to be), but it causes God’s people to create idols of themselves. How cunning the deception to minimize the cross of Jesus and built a human paradigm of religion around the Truth!
There is no manner of human endeavour that can bring forth God’s will. Did Christ not say that without Him we can do nothing? (Joh 15:5). The cross was the final death of the sinful nature and the resurrection of the beginning of a people of God born of the Spirit. The flesh is of no value – only that which is born of God’s Spirit can please Him! (Joh 6:63)
We are not asked to walk by the efforts of the flesh, but simply believing the completed and finished work of God’s Son… in our own lives!
