Man was created in the Image of God, right? – see Gen. 1:26-27. I reckon most of us have no idea of how important and powerful our words really are! Jesus said in Matthew 12:36-37 “…for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”
Even in this life our WORDS determine our well-being and success, or otherwise. Listen to the well-known Proverbs 18:21 “Death and life are in the power of the tongue”. The apostle James made no little of the tongue: “the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity… it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell” (James 3:6) – speaking of evil speaking, of course.
OK, that sounds bad! But the inverse is just as true. If Christ is called The WORD and we are His offspring through the new birth, then we can be called “little words”, can’t we? So, I believe that every believer is a “little word from God”. We use idiomatic expressions like “a cut from the same cloth”, or “like father, like son”, or “the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree”, meaning a child is similar to its parent. Consider the fact that, as a believer, you and I are on this earth as “a cut from His cloth”, to manifest His Divine thoughts through us.
Each of us carry a “Prophetic word” on the inside. When I say a “word”, I don’t mean literally a single word (containing one or more syllables), but rather a “Prophetic expression”. It is something directly from the heart of God that He has individually spoken over our lives. We can see it as our Prophetic mandate.
Let us be careful about what we speak!
