Fellowship with God

The Biblical Tabernacle (Temple) was a perfect model for our 3-part being. Not only that, but it also symbolically described the Trinity! Why would all this be? Because it was God’s way of showing us our intimate design in His Image. (We don’t have the space to explain this in detail now, but this is dealt with in detail in my latest book – see the link at the bottom). Nevertheless, consider the following attentively:

God created man to deeply fellowship with him. Sin in the garden of Eden destroyed that fellowship, because God is perfectly holy and sin (darkness) cannot exist in His Presence (which is light1).

To make it possible to still have fellowship with sinful man, God told Moses to design a dwelling place for Him amongst His people2. In this way God’s holiness could somewhat dwell with man again. It was extremely limited, but at least God could again be around the people He so loves.

To access God in the Tabernacle/Temple, the blood of animal sacrifices were needed. Why? Because the judgement of sin is death3, and the Bible teaches that “life is in the blood”. However, animal blood was a poor payment for man’s sin. A complete payment would be the blood (life) of every human. So, animal sacrifices had to be done endlessly to keep “paying” the wages of sin for all God’s people.

The ultimate solution was for God to become human4, and then shed His own “human” sacrificial blood (life) for all mankind. That is why Jesus had to die. Now every human that accepts the death of Jesus by faith, is completely justified and guiltless5 – the ultimate blood had been shed for mankind.

Finally it is possible for every believer in Jesus to once again have unbroken fellowship with God! We may still live in a sinful and broken world (certainly NOT the garden of Eden down here!), but we can access God anytime, anywhere and enjoy His company through faith, prayer, worship and meditation on the Word of God. The experiential fellowship with God is open-ended.
