The last two Chapters of my latest book, “The Glory of the End-Time Church”, deal with the eternal and cyclic nature of Prophecy (i.e. God’s Word). Let me try and explain these 2 attributes of Prophecy more simply:

- ETERNAL: Whatever God says is forever – we could say that the sound of His voice echoes for all eternity. Hebrews 1:3 reads: “…upholding all things by the Word of His power”
- CYCLIC: Because every Word God speaks is eternal, it necessarily “cycles” dimensionally on and on (e.g. the same Prophetic Word may cycle from being audible, then physical, then spiritual, etc.) To give more clarity: God may speak a Promise (audible dimension), then it would happen in the visible world (physical dimension), which that could be a sign of a coming spiritual truth (invisible dimension), eventually causing change in the hearts of people (internal dimension), which would then affect people’s actions (behavioural dimension), etc. Ecclesiastes 1:10 says “is there anything of which it may be said, ‘See, this is new’? It has already been in ancient times before us”.
So, let’s see one very brief example of how this unfolded in the Bible:
- VERBAL PROMISE: God promises Abram that his descendants would inherit the Promised Land
- PHYSICAL INHERITANCE: Abraham’s descendants become slaves, but Moses frees them from the evil oppression of Pharaoh and they conquer and occupy the Promised Land by Joshua
- SPIRITUAL FORESHADOWING: The real Promised Land actually pertains to the spiritual conquest and occupation of the kingdom of darkness. Jesus conquers satan and believers inherit the spiritual territory of evil: Hebrews 4:8-9 “For if Joshua had given them rest, then He would not afterward have spoken of another day. There remains therefore a rest for the people of God”.
- HEAVENLY REALITY: Believers are resurrected in glorified bodies and literally caught up to the Divine Promised Land – God’s Presence
- ETERNAL PROMISED LAND: A new Heaven and a new Earth is provided by God
And that is how far the Bible reveals these Eternal Prophetic Cycles to us. This is a very compressed list. There are numerous “types” that can still be inserted into this list. For instance, Moses (the Law) could not enter the promised land, but had to die on Mount Nebo. Joshua (Grace) takes Israel into their destiny. Similarly Jesus (like Moses) died so WE could inherit eternal life, but He is resurrected on the 3rd day (a type of Joshua) and leads us to our Divine destiny.
Isn’t the Bible amazing?
